GES removes KNUST SHS assistant headmaster over viral video scandal

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has removed Mr. Charles Akwasi Aidoo, Assistant Headmaster (Academic) of KNUST Senior High School, from office following the circulation of a viral video allegedly showing him in a compromised position with a female student.

In a statement dated September 29, 2025, and signed by Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations at GES, the Service said the decision was taken “in line with our commitment to safeguarding the integrity of the teaching profession and ensuring the safety and welfare of students under our care.”

Mr. Aidoo has been prohibited from visiting the school premises “while thorough investigations are being carried out.”

The statement comes amid growing public concern on social media after the video went viral over the weekend.

The Ghana Education Service stressed that due process will guide its next steps.

“Management assures the general public, stakeholders, parents, and students that due process will be followed, and the appropriate disciplinary action will be taken in accordance with the code of conduct of the Ghana Education Service,” the statement read.

The Service further reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on misconduct involving students.

“The GES remains committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, and child protection in all our schools. We strongly condemn any acts that compromise the safety, dignity, and wellbeing of students,” it added.
