The Ghana Education Service (GES) has cautioned parents and guardians against paying money for the placement of their wards into Senior High Schools (SHS), insisting that the entire exercise remains completely free.
In a statement dated September 25, 2025, the GES said it had taken notice of reports circulating on social media alleging that some individuals were demanding money in exchange for school placements.
“The GES wishes to categorically state that the school placement exercise is absolutely free of charge. At no point should any parent, guardian, or student pay money to any individual or group of persons for placement into any Senior High School or Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institution,” the statement read.
It stressed that the service has in place “official and transparent processes for placement” and urged parents to rely solely on the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) portal, the Resolution Centres, and other official GES communication channels for assistance.
The release further encouraged the public to report anyone demanding money for placement.
“We encourage anyone who is approached with demands for money in exchange for placement to report immediately to the Ghana Education Service or the nearest Police Station for swift action,” it added.
The GES reassured parents and students of its commitment to fairness and transparency.
“Placement into Senior High Schools is strictly merit-based and free of charge,” the statement emphasized.
