The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced the Black Satellites’ squad for the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, currently underway in Egypt.

The team features a strong core of players who won Gold for Ghana at the 2023 African Games and also finished second in the WAFU Zone B Championship held in Ivory Coast.

Notable names in the squad include Jerry Afriyie, Aziz Musibau, Emmanuel Mensah, Nana Kwame Boakye, Andrews Adjabeng, Abdul Aziz Issah, Saeed Yakubu, Abdul Hakim Sulemana, Maxwell Azafokpe, Ofori MacCarthy, and Aaron Essel.

Clinton Doudo has been added to the squad after a strong start in Cyprus with Apollon Limassol, while Michael Amer Mahama, son of business mogul Ibrahim Mahama, also makes the team.

Ghana will kick off its Group C campaign against the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) at the Suez Stadium on Friday, May 2, 2025, at 9:00 PM local time (18:00 GMT). The Satellites will face Senegal on May 5 before wrapping up the group stage against the Central African Republic on May 8.

Head Coach Desmond Offei and his side are aiming for Ghana’s fifth U-20 AFCON title and a qualification spot for the U-20 FIFA World Cup in Chile later this year.

Ghana has previously won the U-20 AFCON in 1993, 1999, 2009, and 2021, and made history by winning the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2009.gfa-names-black-satellites-squad-for-2025-u-20-afcon-in-egypt
