GFA presents commemorative jersey to Andre Ayew for 110 appearances

The captain for the Blackstars team, Andre Ayew has been commemorated by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) as Ghana’s outright most capped player.

He made this history after today’s international friendly match with Switzerland where Ghana emerged victorious beating the Swiss with two goals.

The player for the Al Sadd football club who lasted in the entire game made significant strides in the match. He was later presented with a commemorative jersey by the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku.

Andre Ayew made his debut in August 2007 during an international friendly match against Senegal. He later became the winner of the World U-20 Championship in Egypt where Ghana beat Brazil in the final to win Africa’s first gold medal in the FIFA U-20 World Cup.

The Al Sadd forward has scored 23 goals in his 110 appearances for Ghana making him the seventh-time all-time top scorer for the Black Stars. Andre Ayew was a member of the Ghana Silver Middle Team at the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations in Angola and the Quarter Final Squad in South Africa.

He has also played in Six Africa Cup of Nations tournaments and two FIFA World Cup finals in 2010 and 2014.

The former Swansea City forward will be leading the Black Stars at the upcoming world cup tournament on Thursday, November 24, 2022, in Qatar.
