President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku has announced that he has been cleared to run for a position on the Executive Council of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
In a recent social media update, the Ghana FA President shared that he successfully passed an integrity and eligibility test, which has paved the way for his candidacy.
The post read: “Thrilled to share that I have been cleared to contest for a place on the Executive Committee of CAF, after successfully passing the integrity test. Excited for what lies ahead. May God guide us through this journey!”
Kurt Okraku has fulfilled all ethical requirements set by CAF, including adherence to the CAF and FIFA ethics codes, maintaining a clean criminal record, demonstrating financial integrity, and having no history of doping or match-fixing, along with a solid background in football governance.
Representing the West African Football Union Zone B (WAFU B), Okraku is running unopposed for the Executive Committee position in the election scheduled for March.
This opportunity marks a key milestone in his leadership journey, as securing a seat on the CAF Executive Committee would place him at the heart of decision-making for African football.
Other candidates for the Executive Committee include Wallace John Karia from Tanzania (CECAFA), Mustapha Raji from Liberia FA, Algeria’s Sadi Walid, and Elvis Raja Chetty from Seychelles (COSAFA), among others.
Notably, Okraku previously withdrew his candidacy for the CAF Executive Committee elections in March 2021 to support Djibrilla Hima Hamidou, the former WAFU Zone B and Niger Football Federation President, who is now vying for a seat on the FIFA Executive Council.
The 14th Extraordinary General Assembly is set to take place in Cairo on March 12, where incumbent CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe will run unopposed for a second term.
