Ghana and Leicester City’s Abdul Fatawu Issahaku out for season with ACL injury

Ghana and Leicester City winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has been ruled out for the rest of the season due to an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.

The injury occurred during Ghana’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying game against Angola, when Issahaku landed awkwardly after an aerial duel in the first half.

Despite the injury, he played through the pain and completed the first half but was later substituted. Issahaku has undergone successful surgery and is expected to be out for 6-9 months.

“All glory be to Almighty Allah. My surgery was successful, and I just want to tell you that I am okay. I want to thank everyone for your best wishes,” he wrote on Instagram.

Reacting to the heartbreaking news, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) took to social media to wish him a quick recovery.

“Wishing Abdul Fatawu Issahaku a speedy recovery after successful surgery. Come back stronger, Fatawu,” the post read.

The injury is a significant blow to both Leicester City and the Black Stars, as Issahaku has been a key player for the Foxes and a promising young talent for Ghana.
