The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has cautioned the public against attacking security personnel, citing attempts by mobs to disarm military personnel on authorized duty.
In a public notice available to Metro TV, GAF emphasized that military personnel have the right to defend themselves, innocent civilians, and property, including the use of lethal force if necessary to preserve life.
“The Ghana Armed Forces wishes to caution all and sundry that military personnel on authorized duty have the right to defend themselves, innocent civilians, and property,” Brigadier General E. Aggrey-Quashie, Director General Public Relations, stated.
This development comes amidst the Ghana Armed Forces’ support of the Ghana Police Service in restoring law and order across the country after the declaration of the 2024 presidential election.
The military is urging the public to exercise their civic rights responsibly, cooperate with security personnel, and refrain from acts that could disrupt the peace.
