Ghanaians residing in the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland who are looking to register and obtain the National Identification Card, the Ghana Card, can now heave a sigh of relief, as Ghana’s High Commissioner to the UK and Northern Ireland, Her Excellency Sabah Zita Benson, has announced the arrival of Ghana Card registration equipment.
This move will save citizens the hassle and expense of traveling back home to register for their national identification.
The High Commissioner revealed that the equipment was officially handed over by the Executive Secretary of the National Identification Authority (NIA), Wisdom Kwaku Deku, to the Commission in the UK.
The delivery follows fruitful discussions held two months ago when the High Commissioner paid a working visit to the NIA’s office in Accra.

“Ghanaians in London, are you ready? The Executive Secretary of the National Identification Authority has just delivered our Ghana Card equipment to us. This follows my working visit to his office in Accra two months ago,” she said.
The Ghana Card registration system is set to be installed at the High Commission’s office in Highgate, London, and a pilot registration session will take place on Friday, 14th November 2025, after which the service will be fully rolled out to the general public.
“The Ghana Card equipment shall be set up at our Highgate office, with a pilot registration on Friday, 14th November 2025, after which it shall be opened to the general public,” she added.
In a further boost to accessibility, the High Commissioner announced plans to integrate the Ghana Card registration service into the existing mobile passport services. This will allow Ghanaians in cities and countries outside of London to benefit from the initiative.
“We are committed to serving Ghanaians across the breadth of the UK and Northern Ireland. By adding this service to our mobile passport services, we aim to make it even more convenient for our citizens,” she said.
Sabah Zita Benson expressed her heartfelt appreciation to the Chief Executive Officer and staff of the NIA for their collaboration in making this initiative a reality.
