Ghana FA dissolves Black Stars Management Committee, Coach Otto Addo’s future uncertain

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has not yet made a decision regarding the future of Black Stars coach Otto Addo.

Following Otto Addo’s inability to qualify the Black Stars to the 2025 AFCON in Morocco, the Ghana FA has faced significant pressure to dismiss him.

Ghana finished last in their qualifying group, securing only 3 points from six matches, trailing behind Angola, Sudan, and Niger.

In light of this disappointment, the Executive Council (ExCo) convened on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, to discuss the situation concerning the coach, his technical team, and the management team.

After the meeting, it was decided to immediately dissolve the Management Committee of the Black Stars. However, the Executive Council has not yet reached a conclusion about Coach Otto Addo.

The Council is scheduled to meet with him on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, to assess his technical report on the recent AFCON qualifiers and review the overall performance of the technical team since he took over earlier this year. A decision about his future is expected to be made after this meeting.

Meanwhile, the Ghana FA will host a retreat on November 28, 2024, at the Ghanaman Soccer Center of Excellence, aiming to gather insights and opinions from various stakeholders in Ghana Football.

Participants will include members from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, SWAG, the media, the National Sports Authority, PFAG, former players and captains, coaches, supporters, sports professionals, opinion leaders and so on.
