The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has expressed unwavering support for midfielder Thomas Partey despite the ongoing legal case surrounding him. The 32-year-old, who currently plays for Arsenal, has been charged with multiple counts of rape, bringing the total number of allegations to four women.
In an exclusive interview with Asaase Radio, GFA President Kurt Okraku reiterated the association’s commitment to standing by Partey during this challenging time. While the charges have brought significant media attention, Partey has denied the accusations through his legal team and is set to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on March 13, 2026, with a trial scheduled for November 2026.
“Thomas Partey is an integral part of the Black Stars as our deputy captain. He’s a vital player for us, and the GFA is closely monitoring the situation. We’ve been in constant communication with him, and I can assure you he’s in a strong mental state. Despite the challenges, he is focused on representing Ghana at the World Cup,” said Okraku.
The GFA president emphasized that the association remains firmly in support of Partey as he prepares for international duty. “We stand by Partey during these difficult times, and I am confident he will be ready for the World Cup, regardless of the current situation.”
The midfielder has been a key figure for both his club, Arsenal, and the national team, helping lead Ghana in recent international competitions. Despite the legal hurdles he faces, Partey’s professional focus and leadership remain a priority for the GFA, who are hopeful that he will continue to contribute to Ghana’s success on the world stage.
