GoldBod to sign gold refining deal with Gold Coast Refinery

The Ghana Gold Board [GoldBod] is set to sign a gold refining agreement with Gold Coast Refinery on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, in a move expected to strengthen local gold processing and support Ghana’s industrial growth agenda.

The agreement marks a key step in expanding the country’s refining capacity and adding more value to gold produced locally, as authorities push to retain greater benefits from the sector within the economy.

The signing ceremony is scheduled for 10:00 am at the Conference Room on the fifth floor of the GoldBod Head Office in Accra, and is expected to bring together key stakeholders from the mining and financial sectors.

The Minister for Finance, Hon. Cassiel Ato Forson, Member of Parliament, has been named as the Special Guest of Honour for the event. However, officials say he is currently in custody assisting with investigations.

The partnership between the Ghana Gold Board and Gold Coast Refinery is expected to play a significant role in strengthening the country’s gold value chain, promoting local industry, and advancing broader national industrialisation efforts.
