Ghana’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom & Ireland, Her Excellency Mrs. Sabah Zita Benson, is championing a flagship economic diplomacy initiative known as “GH House”, designed to expand market access for Ghanaian products and strengthen trade relations between Ghana and the UK.
GH House is a purpose-built Made-in-Ghana trade house, serving as a commercial hub where Ghanaian goods are showcased and sold to the UK market and beyond. The project is set to provide a permanent platform for Ghanaian producers and exporters to access international buyers, while promoting Ghanaian brands, culture, and enterprise.
The initiative according to Mrs. Sabah Zita Benson is being implemented in collaboration with the Ghana Export Promotion Authority and COCOBOD UK, ensuring strategic alignment with Ghana’s export development and value-addition policies.
Products to be featured at “GH House” include cocoa and chocolate derivatives, Agro-processed foods, textiles and fashion, handicrafts, cosmetics, and other lifestyle products manufactured in Ghana.
Her Excellency Mrs. Sabah Zita Benson, highlighted that “GH House” is more than a retail space, it is a trade facilitation and business development centre adding that the project is intended to support Ghanaian Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) by improving export readiness, enhancing product standards, and creating direct links between exporters and international distributors, investors, as well as consumers.
Mrs. Sabah Zita Benson explained that GEPA will provide technical expertise in export certification, standards compliance, and market intelligence, helping to ensure that products sold through GH House meet UK and global regulatory requirements while COCOBOD UK’s involvement reinforces Ghana’s strategy of deepening cocoa value addition, promoting finished cocoa products rather than raw exports.
The GH House initiative exemplifies economic diplomacy in action, repositioning Ghana’s High Commission in the UK as a driver of trade, investment, and industrial growth alongside its diplomatic mandate. It aligns with national priorities including the Made in Ghana policy, Beyond Aid agenda, and export diversification strategy.
As global demand for ethically produced and high-quality African goods continues to rise, GH House, under the leadership of Her Excellency Mrs. Sabah Zita Benson, is set to become a flagship destination for Ghanaian excellence, boosting exports, creating jobs at home, and strengthening economic ties between Ghana and the United Kingdom.
