Ghana is no longer a safe haven for corruption – Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama says there will be no fertile ground to breed corruption under his watch, reaffirming his commitment to fight corruption and ensuring accountability in governance.

Mr. Mahama emphasized that Ghana’s resources must be utilized for the collective good of the people.

At a ceremony to receive the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) report, President Mahama commended the committee for its diligence in uncovering substantial financial leakages that have deprived the nation of essential services.

Mahama assured that the report’s recommendations would be thoroughly examined, and necessary legal actions would be taken to retrieve looted state assets and prosecute those found liable.

Sending a strong warning to corrupt individuals, President Mahama stated, “Ghana is no longer a safe haven for corruption.”

He pledged his government’s support for integrity and the rule of law, urging citizens, civil society, and the media to join forces in the fight against corruption.

The Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) Committee, established in December 2024, is tasked with identifying and retrieving looted state assets.

Meanwhile, investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni has questioned the basis for the government’s decision to discontinue court cases against officials and associates of the previous Mahama administration.

Lambasting the government in an article titled “Chief clearing agent”, the Ghanaian journalist noted that “Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) cannot succeed when its implementers are engaged in Operation Clear All Looters (OCAL).”
