Ghana Minister of the Year Awards set for June 6 at La Palm Beach Convention Center

The sixth edition of the Ghana Minister of the Year Awards will be held at the La Palm Beach Convention Center in Accra on Saturday 6 June 2026, with six ministers shortlisted for the top honour of Minister of the Year 2025.

The awards ceremony, scheduled to begin at 6pm, is expected to bring together government officials, diplomats, business leaders, civil society groups and members of the media to celebrate performance and accountability in public service.

Organisers say the awards recognise ministers who have delivered measurable results in their sectors, particularly during what they describe as a key year for Ghana’s recovery and growth agenda.

The shortlisted ministers were selected after months of public nominations, expert reviews and performance assessments based on 2025 targets and delivery outcomes.

The six contenders are Eric Opoku, Minister of Food and Agriculture, recognised for initiatives aimed at improving agricultural productivity and food security; Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, Minister of Finance, cited for leading fiscal stabilisation and debt management efforts amid global economic pressures; and Haruna Iddrisu, Minister of Education, acknowledged for reforms in access, quality and technical education.

Also shortlisted are Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, for measures targeting illegal mining and sustainable resource management; Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Minister of Foreign Affairs, for efforts to strengthen Ghana’s diplomatic relations, diaspora engagement and trade links; and Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, Minister of Trade, Industries and Agribusiness, for policies supporting industrialisation, small businesses and exports.

All six ministers will receive awards on the night, but only one will be named Minister of the Year 2025.

Organisers say the awards are intended to promote accountability and encourage high performance in government rather than serve as a popularity contest.

According to the organisers, winners are determined through verified assessments of performance, stakeholder feedback and impact on national development goals.

They say the awards also aim to raise standards in public service, restore public confidence in governance and inspire young leaders to pursue integrity and results driven leadership.

The Minister of the Year Awards are powered by Big Events Ghana, an events management company in Ghana.

Media accreditation, table reservations and partnership enquiries can be made through the awards secretariat on 0243332726.

The event will be held under the hashtags #MOTYAwards2026 and #GhanaDelivers.
