The Government of Ghana has officially secured broadcast rights for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, ensuring that supporters of the Black Stars will be able to watch every match live.
Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, made the announcement during a ceremony celebrating a significant financial contribution to the national team’s preparations. GCB Bank pledged GH¢5 million to the Black Stars’ fundraising initiative, highlighting the crucial role of corporate support in Ghana’s World Cup journey.
Speaking at the event, Minister Adams emphasized the importance of collaboration between government and private stakeholders:
Through the support of government and fundraising efforts, we have been able to secure broadcast rights to telecast the World Cup matches live on some of the media stations,” he said.
The government-led fundraising campaign aims to mobilize resources for the Black Stars as they prepare for the expanded 48-team tournament, which will take place across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
