Ghana has launched the ABE Global Certification and Diploma Programmes in Tourism and Hospitality, offering internationally recognised qualifications to professionals seeking to build careers in the country’s growing tourism industry.
The initiative is being implemented by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts in partnership with HOTCATT, ABE Global, Ho Technical University and the British Council.
Speaking on behalf of the Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Deputy Minister Yussif Issaka Jajah described the programme as a strategic investment in Ghana’s human capital. He said it would help improve professionalism across the tourism and hospitality sector while supporting the government’s Black Star Experience agenda.
The qualifications are recognised in more than 70 countries and cover tourism, hospitality, business and leadership. Organisers say the courses have been designed to equip participants with practical, industry-relevant skills that meet international standards.
Admissions have opened immediately, with the first group of students expected to begin lectures in October 2026.
The programme forms part of the government’s broader ambition to position Ghana as a preferred destination for culture, heritage, entertainment and diaspora tourism through the Black Star Experience initiative. It is also expected to help develop a workforce capable of competing in the global tourism and hospitality industry.
