The Ghana Police Service has arrested two additional suspects in connection with the violent disturbances during the football match between Nsoatreman FC and Kumasi Asante Kotoko FC on February 2, 2025, in Noatre, Bono Region.
The suspects, Isaac Ofosu and Yeboah Augustine, are currently in police custody and are assisting with the ongoing investigation. This brings the total number of arrested persons to five in relation to the incident, which tragically resulted in one death.
Earlier, on Monday, February 3, Ignatius Baffour Awuah, a former Minister of Employment and Labour Relations and ex-Member of Parliament for Sunyani West; Agyemang Duah Owusu; and Kyeremeh Joseph were also arrested.
The trio appeared in court on Tuesday, February 4. Hon. Baffour Awuah and Kyeremeh were each granted bail of GHC 500,000, with two sureties required. Their passports were confiscated, and they are required to report to the police station daily for the next two weeks.
Owusu, who was found in possession of a pistol and bloodstained clothing at his home, was remanded into custody for two weeks as investigations continue. All three defendants are scheduled to appear in court again on February 17, 2025.
Meanwhile, an intelligence-led operation is ongoing to apprehend the remaining perpetrators and ensure they face justice.
