The Ghana Police Service says it has rolled out nationwide security measures to protect lives and property as Ghanaians mark activities leading into the New Year on Wednesday, 31st December.
In a statement, the Police said officers have been deployed across communities, major towns and cities, entertainment centres and along key highways to maintain safety, security and public order throughout the celebrations.
Patrols have been intensified, while traffic officers will be stationed at major intersections to ensure smooth traffic flow and ease the movement of people and vehicles during the period.
The Police added that special security arrangements have been put in place at public gathering points, including churches, event grounds and other locations expected to draw large crowds.
The Service appealed to the public to cooperate fully with officers on duty, remain alert and look out for one another, particularly neighbours who may be away from home.
Members of the public were urged to report any suspicious activity promptly by calling 0302773906, 18555, 191 or 112 for immediate response.
The Ghana Police Service wished all residents a safe, peaceful and happy New Year.
