The Ghana Football Association has issued a statement following a meeting with all 18 Ghana Premier League clubs in response to the recent crowd violence during the game between Nsoatreman FC and Asante Kotoko SC on Sunday, February 2, 2025, which tragically resulted in the death of an Asante Kotoko fan.
During the meeting on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at the GFA Secretariat, all Premier League clubs agreed to implement enhanced match day security protocols. These protocols will be reviewed further at an Executive Council meeting on Friday, February 7, 2025, and comprehensive guidelines will be released ahead of the Premier League season’s resumption.
The clubs have pledged to work closely with the Ghana FA, security agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure those responsible for the criminal acts are brought to justice. Their collective aim is to foster a safe, enjoyable environment for fans and to promote respect, fair play, and the continued growth of Ghanaian football.

The Ghana Premier League (GPL) clubs, condemn in the strongest terms all acts of hooliganism and violence that have marred our beautiful game in recent times.
The tragic incident that occurred at the Nsoatreman FC vs. Asante Kotoko SC match, resulting in the loss of life of a loyal Kotoko fan, Francis Nana Frimpong (aka Pooley), is particularly disturbing and unacceptable. We stand in solidarity with the family of the deceased and extend our deepest condolences to them as well as to the entire Asante Kotoko SC fraternity.
As GPL clubs, we are committed to promoting fair play, sportsmanship, and respect for the game, its officials, and spectators. We will not tolerate any form of hooliganism, violence, or intimidation at our match centers.
In the meeting held on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at the GFA Secretariat, all Premier League Clubs have agreed to an enhanced match day security protocols. These enhanced protocols will form basis of an Executive Council meeting of the GFA on Friday, February 7, 2025 after which the comprehensive guidelines shall be published ahead of the resumption of the premier league season.
We pledge to work hand-in-hand with the Ghana Football Association (GFA), the Security agencies and other stakeholders to ensure that those responsible for these criminal acts are apprehended and brought to justice.
Together, we pledge to create a safe and enjoyable environment for all football fans and stakeholders. Let us unite in our quest for fair play, respect, and the advancement of Ghanaian football.
