Ghana welcomes Trump’s proposed Russia-Ukraine peace plan

The Government of Ghana has expressed support for a proposed peace framework by U.S. President Donald J. Trump aimed at ending the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

In a statement dated Sunday, November 30, 2025, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Ghana remains firmly committed to global peace, stability and international cooperation.

It noted that any initiative prioritising dialogue, mutual respect and an end to hostilities deserves careful consideration from the international community.

According to the statement, the proposed framework aligns with key global peace principles, including the protection of civilian lives, restoration of territorial integrity and the creation of conditions necessary for long-term reconciliation.

Ghana, which has a longstanding record in peacekeeping and international mediation, reaffirmed its readiness to support constructive efforts that advance peace between the two countries.

The Ministry encouraged all parties involved in the conflict to approach negotiations with sincerity and to prioritise the wellbeing of their citizens over political differences.

The government further indicated its commitment to working with regional and global partners to promote peace, security and prosperity across the world.
