Ghanaian students to enjoy free Gemini App and AI training – Sam George

Ghanaian students are to benefit from a year-long free access to Google’s Gemini App, following a new digital support initiative announced by the Ministry of Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations.

The package, unveiled by the sector Minister, Sam George, includes 12 months of complimentary use of the Gemini App, 2 terabytes of cloud storage, and free artificial intelligence (AI) certification training for eligible students.

Sam George, in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), said the offer forms part of ongoing efforts by the government to expand digital literacy and equip young people with advanced technological skills.

He encouraged students to sign up for the programme before the deadline.

“Until December 9, 2025, Ghanaian students can register to use the Gemini App at no cost for a year, with 2TB storage and free AI certification training,” he said, urging beneficiaries to take full advantage of the opportunity.

The initiative stems from the ministry’s broader collaboration with Google, which has already resulted in key interventions such as the establishment of the Artificial Intelligence Research Lab and the One Million Coders Programme.

According to him, the partnership would continue to widen, offering additional opportunities to students across the country.

He noted that the support package was designed not only to boost technological competence but also to ease financial pressure on students and their families.

“This is yet another step to empower our citizens and save money for Ghanaian students and their parents,” he added.

Eligible students may register through the Gemini Pro portal at **gemini.google/students** and apply for the AI training programme via the application link shared by the Ministry.

The offer remains valid until December 9, 2025.
