Ghana’s Ambassador Smith visits U.S. churches, engages diaspora on development and leadership

Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States, His Excellency Victor Emmanuel Smith, recently conducted a series of courtesy visits to U.S.-based churches, engaging both clergy and congregants on the government’s development agenda and fostering stronger ties with the Ghanaian diaspora.

The visits included Mount Zion Presbyterian Church in Worcester, Massachusetts, where Pastor Adu Aboagye welcomed the Ambassador and the congregation.

Ambassador Smith interacted with church members, fielding questions and sharing insights on Ghana’s ongoing reforms, the importance of ethical governance, and opportunities for diaspora engagement.

At the Church of Pentecost, Church Central, Pastor Samuel Fordon led prayers for a committed government and a responsible opposition, emphasizing the role of faith communities in promoting democracy and accountability.

The Ambassador also visited ICG’s Holy Ghost Temple, engaging both clergy and congregants in discussions on national initiatives and opportunities for collaboration between the government and diaspora communities.

During his visit to the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) in Worcester, Ambassador Smith addressed U.S. immigration policy, critiquing the Trump administration’s approach while highlighting the need for increased investment in home countries to provide opportunities for returning migrants.

He assured clergy and congregants that the Ghanaian government is committed to national transformation and partnering with the United States to improve the lives of Ghanaians both at home and abroad.
