Ghana’s Black Maidens (Women’s U-17) are set to clash with their Nigerian counterparts in the final of the Inaugural WAFU Women’s Zone B U-17 Championship.
The Black Maidens secured a place in the final after thumping neighbors Ivory Coast 5-0. Christiana Ashiaku scored a hattrick, and Zipporah Ayantoya, Seidatu Wahab each added a goal.
Nigeria, on the other hand, demonstrated their superiority as they edged out Benin 2-0 in the semi-finals, with Mary Lucky and Peace Effiong scoring the crucial goals.
The final, which promises to be electrifying is scheduled for Sunday, December 22, at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.
This championship is important for both countries. Ghana aims to re-establish its presence on the international stage following a two-year suspension due to age-cheating violations, while Nigeria considers it essential preparation for the U17 World Cup qualifiers.
