Ghana’s Black Queens set for Morocco clash in preparation for Women’s African Cup

The Ghana Black Queens will face Morocco in an international friendly on Friday, February 21, 2025, at the Pere Jego Stadium in Casablanca.

This match is part of the February FIFA window and plays a key role in preparing the team for the upcoming Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in July.

It will be the Black Queens’ first game since their 4-0 loss to Japan in July 2024 and their first match under new head coach Kim Lars Björkegren.

Coach Björkegren is focused on improving the team’s performance and achieving a positive result to strengthen their chances at WAFCON. This friendly also gives him the chance to evaluate the current squad as well as new players.

The Black Queens have been drawn into Group C of the WAFCON, where they will compete against defending champions South Africa, Mali, and Tanzania. With the tournament fast approaching, the match against Morocco will serve as a crucial indicator of the team’s readiness.
