A staggering turn of events has unfolded in Oslo, Norway, where an 11-member Ghanaian Paralympic team, who arrived on April 25 to compete in the Fjordkraft Bergren Marathon, has absconded after failing to show up for the event.
A letter from the Ministry of National Security, said the team’s head coach, George Gyasi Gyamfi, collapsed on April 28 and later passed away on May 17 at Oslo University Hospital.
One team member, Nana Antwi, was apprehended by authorities while attempting to travel to Sweden by train.
The remaining nine team members are still unaccounted for.
The European Border Control Coast Guard Agency and the Norwegian Embassy in Accra, Ghana, have been alerted and are working to locate the missing athletes.
