Former Ghana U-17 coach Laryea Kingston has thrown his support behind Black Stars coach Otto Addo, urging the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to stand by him despite the team’s recent struggles.
Otto Addo has come under stern criticism following his inability to qualify the Black Stars to the 2025 African Cup of Nation, with majority of Ghanaians calling for his sacking.
However, Kingston believes that Addo deserves more time to turn things around and that replacing him now would be counterproductive, stressing that “Stability is key”.
“If we change the coach and the technical team and bring new faces, it will be a disaster,” Kingston said in an interview with FlashScore.
“I think we should allow him to at least finish the World Cup qualifiers – who knows? Maybe he can qualify. And then after that, we make a decision as a country. So we should give him another opportunity.”
Meanwhile, the GFA’s Executive Council is set to meet on Wednesday to discuss the team’s performance and future direction.
