The Gonjaland Youth Association (GLYA) is calling for calm and restraint amidst growing tensions over the recent nomination of a Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Bole Bamboi Municipality last week.
In a press release signed by GLYA President Al-Hassan Baba Darison, the association acknowledges the genuine passion and commitment of the youth in Bole to the development and future of their municipality.
On the 25 th April, a pressure group in the municipality, Arise Bole Youth openly opposed the appointment of Abdulai Mahmud as the MCE raising allegations of not being an active member of the NDC and not popular among the populace.
However, the Gonjaland Youth Association has urged all concerned individuals to remain calm and avoid actions that could jeopardize the peace and unity of the area.
” We recognize the genuine passion and commitment of our youth to the development and future of Bole. However, we respectfully urge all concerned individuals, particularly the youth, to remain calm and measured in their actions during this period.”
According to the GLYA, the association is proactively engaging with relevant stakeholders, including traditional authorities, political leaders, and government officials, to ensure that the matter is resolved amicably and in the best interest of Bole.
The association commended individuals and groups working behind the scenes to address concerns constructively.
The GLYA appealed to the youth to prioritize peace and unity in the municipality, resisting any urge to resort to confrontational actions. The association remains committed to advocating for fairness, transparency, and the well-being of the people of Gonjaland.
“GLYA remains committed to advocating for fairness, transparency, and the well-being of our people. Let us stand together in peace as we work toward a resolution that reflects the collective will and progress of Bole.”
