GNFS averts disaster after vehicle erupts in flames at Nungua Buade

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has successfully contained a vehicle fire at Nungua Buade, near Accra Metro University, preventing the blaze from spreading to nearby properties.

The incident occurred on Monday, July 27, 2026.

According to the GNFS, firefighters from the Trade Fair Fire Station responded after receiving a distress call at 2:31 p.m. A crew was dispatched a minute later and arrived at the scene at 2:53 p.m. to find the vehicle fully engulfed in flames.

Firefighters immediately began extinguishing the blaze and brought the fire under control within five minutes, ensuring the safety of nearby residents and properties.

No injuries or fatalities were recorded in the incident, although the vehicle was completely destroyed by the fire.

The cause of the fire is yet to be established.

The Ghana National Fire Service says investigations are underway to determine what triggered the blaze.
