GoldBod suspends NK Benark Enterprise over alleged gold offenses

The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has suspended the license of NK Benark Enterprise, a licensed Tier 2 gold buying company, and ordered the closure of all its trading shops nationwide.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, September 16, GoldBod explained that the move follows the arrest and ongoing prosecution of the company’s owner, Bernard Nkrumah, who is facing charges in connection with multiple gold-related offenses.

According to the Board, the action was necessary to protect the integrity of the gold trading sector and prevent further infractions.

“The Ghana Gold Board (‘GoldBod’) wishes to inform the general public that it has suspended the license and closed all trading shops of ‘NK Benark Enterprise’, a licensed gold buyer (Tier 2), with immediate effect,” the statement said.

It further cautioned all licensed traders, miners, and members of the public against conducting any form of business with the company.

“Notice is hereby given to all licensed traders, miners and the general public to desist from trading and/or engaging in any form of gold transaction with NK Benark Enterprise forthwith,” the Compliance Directorate stressed.

GoldBod added that it remains committed to enforcing the laws and regulations that govern the gold trade “in the spirit of accountability and transparency.”
