Member of Parliament for Gomoa East, Dr. Desmond De-Graft Paitoo, has appealed for urgent aid for communities affected by the recent flooding in the area.
The flooding, which occurred on June 5, 2024, has affected the communities of Adewukwaa, Mampong, and Okyereko, displacing hundreds of residents and damaging properties.
Dr. Paitoo is calling on international aid agencies, philanthropists, and non-governmental organizations to provide immediate relief and support to the affected communities.
The essential needs include food, clothing, medical supplies, and temporary shelter to help the displaced families cope with the crisis and start rebuilding their lives.
The flooding, triggered by construction activities on the Okyereko bridge, has wreaked havoc on the area, with over 350 homes flooded and personal properties swept away.
Dr. Paitoo emphasized the critical need for prompt assistance, saying “Your generous contributions can make a significant difference in alleviating the suffering and rebuilding the lives of those impacted by this disaster.”
