Gospel musicians deserve better, we should be paid well – Philipa Baafi laments

Veteran gospel Musician Philipa Baafi has lamented on the neglect of gospel musicians with respect to payments after perfomances at events.

Speaking to Dj Toxic on “My Praise” on Neat Fm, she said gospel musicians are not well taken off and paid well for shows.

Philipa Baafi revealed alot of talents have quit gospel music because they don’t find it lucrative.

The singer revealed she saw an instrumentalists arguing with a musician because the person failed to pay them after perfomance.

Philipa Baafi who seemed to be worried about this trend said most event organisers capitalize on this perception and often deny gospel musicians what is due them.

” Most people secular musicians started from the church but they left because they were not properly catered for” she revealed.

According to her, gospel musicians invest substantially in their work but are often not paid enough for their sweat because they are perceived to be working for God.

She revealed that, the lack of proper funds given to musicians are part of the reasons why most of them come on social media to beg when they grow old.
