The government has declared Wednesday, May 27, 2026, a statutory public holiday to mark Eid-al-Adha.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, said the holiday should be observed across the country.
The announcement was made in accordance with the national calendar for public holidays and religious observances.
Eid-al-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, is one of the most important celebrations in the Islamic calendar. It is observed by Muslims worldwide with prayers, charity and family gatherings.
The statement was issued by the Interior Ministry on 15th May 2026 and signed by Mr Mohammed-Mubarak, who is also the Member of Parliament for Asawase.
