Gov’t, private sector to partner on 24-hour economic policy – Abdul Aziz

Former Member of Parliament for Mion Constituency, Abdul-Aziz Ayaba Musah, has emphasized the viability of a 24-hour economy in Ghana, highlighting the government’s plan to collaborate with private sectors to stimulate job creation.

Abdul Aziz, speaking on Good Morning Ghana on Metro TV, noted that the government aims to provide incentives and create a framework that will encourage the private sector to respond, ultimately leading to more employment opportunities.

He clarified that not all government institutions will be required to operate 24/7, but rather those with high demand and the capability to do so.

He cited the example of passport services, which currently take a minimum of six months to process.

“What is wrong if you bring passport service on board so that even at night I can go to the passport office and do my biometrics and take my passport?” he asked.

Abdul Azziz also pointed out that some institutions, like hospitals, already operate 24/7, albeit with reduced services during nighttime hours.

He emphasized that the government’s goal is to provide a framework that will enable the private sector to thrive and create more job opportunities.
