The Nana Agyeman Prempeh I International Airport in Kumasi, is scheduled to be formally opened by President Akufo-Addo on Friday, May 10.
The commissioning of the airport on Friday, May 10, will enable testing that is necessary for both domestic and international aircraft.
The facility is expected to be able to handle more than 800,000 passengers per year from the middle and northern belt regions, which is a major improvement in regional connection.
Following the terminal’s activation, plans are in place to extend the runway and demolish antiquated infrastructure.
The 13th Asante King, Nana Sir Osei Agyemang Prempeh I, is honored with the name of the current airport.
