The Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has assured the public that government is committed to making more buses available for intracity transport operations in Accra.

The move is aimed at easing congestion and improving daily commuting within the capital.

According to Mr Kwakye Ofosu, the decision follows growing complaints from commuters over long waiting times and heavy congestion on major routes across the city. He said government is aware of the challenges and is taking steps to address them.

The minister made these remarks during an interview with Desmond Okraku Mantey on Good Afternoon Ghana on Metro TV. He explained that improving public transport remains a key priority for government.

Mr Kwakye Ofosu noted that increasing the number of buses on city routes will help reduce pressure on commuters, especially during peak morning and evening hours. He said the initiative will also support private transport operators.

He expressed confidence that the measures being implemented will improve accessibility to public transport services across Accra. According to him, commuters should experience shorter waiting times and smoother travel within the city.

The minister added that government is working closely with relevant transport agencies to ensure efficient deployment of buses on high-demand routes. He said the focus is on areas where congestion is most severe.

Mr Kwakye Ofosu assured residents of Accra that government remains committed to improving public transportation. He encouraged commuters to remain patient as the measures take full effect, promising noticeable improvements in the coming weeks.
