The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) Royal Ladies Hockey team held a meeting with the Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Iddie Adams on Wednesday, 26th February 2025 in Accra.
The meeting was to present their just ended hard earned trophies from the African Cup for Club Champions (ACCC) which was held in Ismailia, Egypt in January through to February.
This is the fifth consecutive time the Royal Ladies have won such trophies. They presented the ultimate trophy, best player trophy, best goalkeeper trophy and best scorer trophy.
During the meeting, the GRA team expressed gratitude to Kofi Adams by presenting him with a souvenir. They acknowledged the significant impact of his words and support, which motivated the team to strive for excellence. The ministry was urged to recognize the GRA Hockey team’s outstanding contributions to nurturing young talent over the years.
In response, Kofi Adams commended the team for their remarkable achievements, which have brought pride to the country. He encouraged them to maintain their unity and predicted a bright future for the team.
“We are happy as a ministry, we are happy as a government that you have lifted our name high out there” he said.
He further added that, GRA has remained loyal and needs to be commended highly for scouting talented players and bringing the best out of them. Also, he encourages every Ghanaian to pay their taxes and take it serious so that, revenue can be made to support the GRA royal ladies for more laurels to be won.
The GRA team seeked for the assistance of the Sports and Recreation Minister to recruit new team members from the grassroot level due to ageing of the current players in both men and women team importantly, to start training for the upcoming African cup competition in August which is a qualifier for the Olympics and Commonwealth.
