A new chapter in healthcare delivery has begun in the Eastern Region following the official launch of Great Kingdom Medical Center on 17th September 2026 at Akropong-Akwapim.
The state-of-the-art health facility was established by Dr. Jonathan Kwame Amofa, who said the center was founded to strengthen healthcare services across Ghana and provide specialized treatment closer to communities.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Dr. Amofa emphasized that the establishment of Great Kingdom Medical Center forms part of his broader vision to improve access to quality healthcare nationwide. He noted that many communities struggle with specialist medical services, and the new facility aims to bridge that gap.
The center is fully equipped to handle specialized treatments in:Dental care,Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) services,Eye care, General medical consultations and other health complications
Residents of Akropong-Akwapim and surrounding communities are expected to benefit significantly from the availability of these services locally.
The launch ceremony attracted several prominent personalities, including former Minister Alan Kyerematen, Nana Asante Bediatuo, and Hopeson Adorye.
Also present was the Okuapehene, Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo III, Paramount Chief of the Akuapem Traditional Council, whose presence underscored the importance of the facility to the traditional area and the broader Eastern Region.
The dignitaries commended Dr. Amofa for his initiative and encouraged continued private sector investment in Ghana’s healthcare system.
