Greater Accra Minister Linda Ocloo Rallies Support for President’s Cup Showdown

The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon. Linda Ocloo, has issued a passionate rallying call to football fans across the region to turn up in full force this Sunday, July 6, for the highly anticipated 2025 President’s Cup clash between Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko.

Speaking to Gideon Okyere Anim, popularly known as Gatusso, on Original TV, Hon. Ocloo emphasized the symbolic importance of the match, not just for sporting pride but as a show of unity and regional strength.

“This is more than just a football match — it’s a moment to stand together, support our teams, and celebrate national pride under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama,” Ocloo stated. “I call on every supporter in Greater Accra to come out and pack the stadium. Let’s show the nation our strength and help our team claim the trophy.”

The President’s Cup, an annual football fixture played in honor of the sitting President of Ghana, will feature the country’s most storied rivals — Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko — in what promises to be a thrilling encounter at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Set against the backdrop of renewed political and sporting energy following President Mahama’s return to office, this year’s edition carries added significance. Ocloo’s call is expected to galvanize support in the capital as Hearts of Oak look to defend home turf against their fierce rivals from Kumasi.

Tickets are already selling fast, with kickoff scheduled for 3:00 PM on Sunday.
