Greater Accra Regional Minister calls on MMDAs to enforce bye-laws on livestock rearing

The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus Glover, has urged Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the region to enforce their bye-laws on livestock rearing.

According to him, the indiscriminate rearing of livestock in residential areas is becoming a menace in the region, and the MMDAs must take action to address the situation.

The Regional Minister made this call during the first meeting of the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council for the year 2024, held on July 18, 2024.

“I had to personally go and give stern warning and ultimatums for them to remove the livestock from the Dr. Hilla Limann Highway. Let us look for sustainable solutions to this menace in the coming years by finding a suitable location for temporal livestock market for the season,” he said.

He also charged the MMDAs to take keen interest in the ecologically sensitive zones in their areas to promote sustainable development.
