The Central Region has exceeded its target of planting 600,000 seedlings to 1 million seedlings as part of the Green Ghana Day initiative.
The Regional Minister, Mrs. Justina Marigold Assan, revealed this at the Regional Coordinating Council in Cape Coast, where the exercise was launched. She emphasized the need for planting trees and urged all Ghanaians to support the Forestry Commission in restoring the country’s lost forests.
The Regional Manager of the Forestry Commission, Mr. Ntsiamoah Bennet, reiterated that the region has always exceeded its targets, with over 7,000 seedlings already distributed.
He stressed the importance of nurturing the planted trees to benefit all.
The Green Ghana Day initiative aims to revive Ghana’s lost rainforest, with communities nationwide coming together to plant trees. Free seedlings have been distributed to support the effort.
