Greenwheels, a global leader in eco-friendly transportation solutions, is set to launch its operations in Ghana this August.
The move is expected to create more than 5,000 direct and indirect jobs, providing a welcome boost to employment while supporting Ghana’s transition toward a cleaner and more inclusive transport system.
During a meeting with the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) in Accra, Greenwheels founder Aliabbas Jaffer described Ghana as the ideal launchpad for the company’s African journey.
“We’re thrilled to begin in Ghana. The country offers the perfect mix of innovation, demand, and vision. Our partnership with Uber will allow drivers to access electric vehicles through flexible leasing models, cutting down operational costs and helping reduce emissions. It’s about cleaner cities and better livelihoods.” Mr Jaffer said
The initiative will see Greenwheels and Uber work together to deploy electric vehicles across Ghana, making low-emission, affordable transport more accessible to the public.
Drivers will benefit from new earning opportunities and access to greener, cost-effective vehicles.
GIPC CEO, Simon Madjie welcomed the announcement, calling it a strong endorsement of Ghana’s climate ambitions and investment readiness.
“This is more than a business expansion; it’s a sign that Ghana is ready to lead Africa’s green mobility revolution. We’re excited to see companies like Greenwheels invest in our people and our future.” He said
