GSFP begins nationwide training to improve school meals

The Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) has launched a nationwide nutrition training programme for caterers and cooks as part of efforts to improve the quality of meals served to beneficiary pupils across the country.

The training forms part of support from the World Bank to equip GSFP service providers with the knowledge and practical skills needed to prepare nutritious, safe and high-quality meals for schoolchildren.

The National Coordinator of the GSFP, Hajia Fati Forgor, monitored the rollout of the training in Kumasi on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, where she expressed satisfaction with the organisation of the programme and the level of participation by the caterers.

She urged participants to take the training seriously and apply the knowledge gained to improve the meals they prepare for pupils under the programme.

Hajia Forgor also praised the caterers for their commitment, enthusiasm and willingness to learn modern standards and best practices in food preparation.

She thanked the World Bank for supporting the initiative and said the programme would ensure that schoolchildren across Ghana benefit from healthier and more nutritious meals that contribute to their overall wellbeing.
