GTA invites organisers to pitch events for December in GH 2026

The Ghana Tourism Authority has opened submissions for the 2026 edition of December in GH, calling on event organisers, cultural innovators and experience creators to propose activities for the annual festive season campaign.

In a statement, the authority said the programme will run from 1 December 2026 to 3 January 2027 and will feature events centred on music, fashion, film, food, heritage and the creative arts.

The campaign, which began as an events calendar, has grown into one of Ghana’s biggest cultural tourism platforms under the Black Star Experience initiative. It attracts visitors from the diaspora, tourists, investors and entertainment enthusiasts from around the world.

The Chief Executive of the GTA, Maame Efua Houadjeto, described December in GH as more than a celebration, saying it continues to project Ghana’s culture and identity to a global audience.

She said the 2026 edition is expected to be the biggest so far, with organisers planning innovative events aimed at strengthening Ghana’s position as a leading destination for culture, entertainment and heritage tourism.

According to the GTA, this year’s edition will place greater focus on regional participation, improved visitor experiences and storytelling that reflects communities across the country.

The Director of the International Affairs Secretariat, Annabelle McKenzie, said the initiative goes beyond hosting events.

“The goal is to craft memorable experiences that define how visitors encounter and remember Ghana,” she said.

The authority said it is looking for authentic and high quality concepts with strong production value, cultural relevance and audience appeal. Selected proposals will form part of the official December in GH campaign and will be promoted through the GTA’s local and international platforms.

Submissions close on Monday, 13 July 2026.
