Guru back in UG SRC race after appeals board overturned disqualification decision

The Appeals Board has unanimously overturned the disqualification of two SRC presidential aspirants, Mr Maradona Adjei Yeboah, popularly called Guru, and Mr Emmanuel Owusu Amponsah.

This verdict paves the way for their inclusion in the upcoming elections.

In a statement signed by the Vice Dean, the Appeals Board directed that the names of the two aspirants and their respective running mates be added to the list of presidential candidates.

“The Appeals Board has set aside the disqualification of Mr Emmanuel Owusu Amponsah and Mr Maradona Adjei Yeboah by a unanimous decision of 7-0,” the statement read.

The Vice Dean further directed that a balloting exercise be held on Monday, September 16, 2024, between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon at the Office of the Dean of Student Affairs (ODSA) to determine the positions of all the SRC candidates vetted by the vetting committee.

“You are to immediately communicate this to ALL the candidates to assemble at the premises of the ODSA for the balloting,” the statement added.

The Vice Dean emphasized that the list of candidates and their respective positions should be sent to the UGCS immediately after the balloting to enable the necessary preparations for voting to take place on a date to be agreed with candidates.

“Treat this as URGENT and act accordingly,” the statement concluded.
