‘Hands Off Our Hotels’ protestors sustain Injuries as police deploy pepper spray and tear gas

Chaos erupted at the ‘Hands Off Our Hotels’ demonstration as police used pepper spray and tear gas to disperse protesters, leaving several injured.

The incident occurred when demonstrators attempted to breach the agreed-upon finishing point at Christ The King Church, near the Jubilee House.

Police responded with force, deploying pepper spray and tear gas after protesters threw sachet water at them.

Four individuals received first aid treatment from the ambulance service, while others suffered various degrees of injury.

Former PNC National Chairman Bernard Mornah condemned the police’s actions, urging the Inspector General of Police to address the unprofessionalism.

Despite the turmoil, Mr. Ablakwa presented a petition to a Jubilee House representative, calling for the government to halt the sale of four hotels to Rock City Hotel, owned by Minister Bryan Acheampong.

The protest, backed by civil society organizations, concerned citizens, and opposition groups, seeks to prevent what they deem an unethical and potentially harmful transaction.
