Hasaacas Ladies have been crowned champions of the 2025/26 Women’s FA Cup after defeating Army Ladies in a dramatic penalty shootout on Sunday afternoon.
The match ended 1-1 after 120 minutes of intense football, before Hasaacas Ladies secured a 5-3 win on penalties to lift the trophy.
Both teams went into the final with strong motivation. Hasaacas Ladies were aiming to bounce back after losing the Women’s Premier League final to Ampem Darkoa Ladies a month earlier, while Army Ladies were also chasing silverware after missing out on the league final.
The first half saw limited clear chances, as both sides struggled to convert their opportunities despite creating promising openings.
The breakthrough came late in the second half when Hasaacas Ladies took the lead in the 87th minute through substitute Linda Epo. However, the advantage lasted only two minutes, as Esther Asamoah Yiadom responded for Army Ladies with a crucial equaliser—her seventh goal of the tournament.
With the score level, the match went into extra time, but neither side could find a winner after 120 minutes of play.
In the penalty shootout, Hasaacas Ladies were flawless, converting all five of their spot-kicks. Army Ladies, however, scored three and missed one, handing the advantage and ultimately the title to the Takoradi-based side.
This victory marks Hasaacas Ladies’ second FA Cup triumph, following their previous win in the 2020/21 season. Head coach Raymond Fenny also made history by becoming the first coach to win back-to-back Women’s FA Cup titles.
