New Patriotic Party (NPP) General Secretary hopeful Eugene Boakye Antwi says his political experience and maturity make him the right candidate to lead the party’s administration as it prepares for the 2028 elections.
According to him, the party needs experienced leadership capable of bringing its members together after the challenges of its time in government.
The NPP is scheduled to hold its national executives election on October 3, 2026, with the vetting of aspirants already underway.
The election will determine who occupies key national positions, including National Chairman, General Secretary, Treasurer, Organiser, Women Organiser, Youth Organiser, Nasara Organiser and Communications Director.
Speaking on Metro TV’s Good Afternoon Ghana on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, Eugene Boakye Antwi outlined his political experience as one of the reasons he believes he is well suited for the General Secretary position.
He also spoke about the need to rebuild trust and unity within the party as it seeks to return to power in 2028.
He said the NPP’s chances of winning the next election will depend largely on its ability to put internal differences behind it and work together.
“Anytime we’re united, we’re unstoppable and anytime we’re divided, we’re defeated,” he said.
He urged party members to let go of disagreements and events that occurred during the NPP’s administration and concentrate on rebuilding the party.
Eugene Boakye Antwi believes a united NPP will be better positioned to reconnect with voters and mount a strong challenge for power in 2028.
He said the immediate task should be to bring party members together and create the conditions needed for the party to regain power.
