Health Ministry closes Techiman Krobo Nursing College after violent student protest

The Ministry of Health has temporarily closed the Nursing Training College at Techiman Krobo after violent student protests disrupted academic activities and efforts to restore order through dialogue failed.

The Ministry announced the immediate closure in a statement issued on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, citing a breakdown in discipline and growing concerns over safety and security on campus.

According to the Ministry, several attempts by school authorities and other stakeholders to resolve the situation through dialogue, counselling and meetings did not bring the unrest under control.

It said some students continued to engage in actions that disrupted teaching and learning while threatening the peace, safety and orderly administration of the institution.

The Ministry said the temporary closure was necessary to restore calm, safeguard lives and property, and give the appropriate authorities time to assess the situation before deciding on the conditions for reopening the college.

All students have been directed to leave the campus peacefully and return to their homes by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.

The Ministry urged students to comply with the directive to ensure an orderly evacuation and help restore normalcy at the institution.
