The Ministry of Health has ordered an investigation into the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, Ridge following an investigative report by The Fourth Estate that has sparked public concern.
In a statement, the Ministry said it had taken note of the report, which has been widely shared on social media, and described the issues raised as serious and deserving of careful examination.
The Ministry expressed sympathy for patients and relatives who may have experienced unprofessional conduct at any health facility in the country, stressing that government remains committed to reducing the stress and financial burden people face when accessing healthcare.
While acknowledging the concerns highlighted in the investigation, the Ministry said it was surprised by some of the revelations and has begun the process of constituting an investigative committee to look into the matter.
The committee is expected to submit its report within 14 working days.
The Ministry also called for the full cooperation of all relevant stakeholders, including The Fourth Estate, to help establish the facts, ensure accountability and improve service delivery across the health system.
