The Senegal Football Federation (FSF) is reportedly considering experienced French manager Hervé Renard as a leading candidate to replace Pape Thiaw following his departure as head coach of the Lions of Teranga.
Thiaw’s exit comes after Senegal’s disappointing 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign, which ended with a dramatic 3-2 defeat to Belgium in the Round of 32.
The early elimination reportedly intensified pressure on the coaching staff, with several reports indicating that Thiaw and members of his technical team stepped down after falling short of expectations.
With the coaching position now vacant, the FSF has begun searching for a new manager capable of rebuilding the national team and guiding Senegal back to success on the international stage. Renard has emerged as one of the strongest candidates due to his outstanding record in African football.
